“May’s Art Studio theme is papermaking. Artist-in-residence is Mary Hark, UW-Madison professor and papermaker, whose work will be on display in the Art Studio Gallery, along with Barbara Landes (master of fine arts papermaker), and select undergrad students. Also displayed in the gallery is work by students from Gompers and Schenk elementary schools, as well as work by local artists Matt Reedy and Lorraine Barniskis.
There will also be a special exhibit from Community Partnerships called “Story Shoes” on display in our 3-D case in celebration of Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week.
This month’s artist-in-residence program is sponsored by Dane County Cultural Affairs Commission, with additional funds from The Evjue Foundation, Inc., the charitable arm of The Capital Times.” –Children’s Museum
While art is still up from April that features both Randall and Gompers students, May is focused on Gompers K/1 and 2/3 students and their paper making skills.
There are so many more featured Gompers paper makers but you need to head to the museum to check them out for yourself!
The other part of the gallery I suggest you check out while your there is the “Story Shoes” display.
