K/1 students began by sketching a self portrait of themselves. We discussed how a self portrait is a picture of yourself and it can be a story about yourself. Some students added pictures to do just that.
Then students drew pictures on their covers telling stories about themselves as a border. This student spent lots of time with his storytelling. Can you find the picture of the tornado he lived through when he was little?
Students used their self portrait sketches to then draw their self portraits into the styrofoam.
K/1 artists became printmakers. We pulled prints after etching into our printing plates. (We learned lots of new art words today).
