It’s more important now more than ever that our students see that we support them in their talents and passions. The students feel the tensions at school, too. I hope to see you all on Sunday! Please come support our students in their big moment! (It’s also right next to the Capitol, how convenient!)
The opening reception is Sunday, March 20th 3-4:30pm. I know the students would LOVE to see the family and friends, staff and c…ommunity there to support them in their big moment!! “Young at Art presents works of art by Madison Metropolitan School District students in kindergarten through grade 12. The exhibition is the result of a long-standing collaboration between MMoCA and the school district’s Fine Arts Department. An opening reception will take place on Sunday, March 20, 3-4:30 pm. Teachers, student artists, and families are the featured guests at the reception, which is open to the public. The Chávez Marimba Club, a project of the César Chávez Elementary School, will perform at 3:30 pm in the MMoCA lobby. In preparing for the exhibition, each of Madison’s public school art teachers is invited to submit up to three works created by his or her students. This process yields a full range of technique, subject matter, and media, including drawing, painting, collage, photography, sculpture, jewelry, ceramics, fiber, and computer-generated art. Young at Art underscores the value of early and continuing exposure to high-quality art education. The exhibition calls attention to children’s creative potential and problem-solving skills; to the scope and variety of individual expression; and to the excellence of art instruction in Madison’s public schools. All works on view in Young at Art demonstrate students’ imagination and talent, and reflect best-practices in art education.” -MMoCA Check out this website for more information: Look for both Randall and Gompers student work as well as work from all over the district!
Here are some of the artwork that will be shown on Sunday. See you then!
